Copyrights

Copyright infringement has become an area of great concern for those who place content on the Internet on websites or blogs.  Text, graphics, photos or other images might be stolen from a website by a competitor and placed on another site.  A duplicate copy of that content on the Internet creates a serious risk that the original website will fall in search engine rankings or even be removed completely.  This can be disastrous for businesses that count on an online presence to conduct their business.

It is always a good idea to obtain a copyright for the original content on a website.  This is a fairly easy process that we can assist you in doing yourself.  Once the misappropriation has been discovered, a takedown notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) may be sent as a fast and cost effective solution to halt the infringement. Under Section 512 of the DMCA, a takedown notice to an online service provider which is hosting copyright infringing content may be sent on behalf of a copyright owner.  Once such a notice which complies with all of the technical requirements laid out in the statute is sent, the online service provider has an obligation to remove or disable access to the infringing material in an expeditious manner.

Additionally, if you have obtained a copyright, you may be entitled to money damages and/or an injunction against the offending party who has unlawfully misappropriated your copyrighted material.  We can help you decide what actions to take, and take them immediately so as to protect your rights.
